It’s the Dreaded End of All Things for INVINCIBLE (video)

Robert Kirkman (Co-creator/writer), Cory Walker (Co-creator/artist) and Ryan Ottley (artist) discuss the humble beginnings and the inevitable end of their cult-favorite indie superhero series Invincible.

The final storyline “The End of All Things” to close out the long-running series is currently being published by Skybound Entertainment/Image Comics.

SkyBound Adds DEMONIC to its Roster

Coming in August is the first issue to the Robert Kirkman-created miniseries DEMONIC, written by Christopher Sebela and illustrated by Niko Walter with colors by Dan Brown.

From the solicitation: Detective Scott Graves will do anything to protect his family… even bargain away his soul. Now, the only thing to fear isn’t New York’s worst criminals, but what’s already raging inside of him. After all, what’s the cost of your soul when it’s already damaged?

Eisner-nominated writer Christopher Sebela (High Crimes), newcomer Niko Walter and colorist Dan Brown unleash a vigilante who answers to no man, only the demon within.

Demonic #1 (of 6) ships August 17th from SkyBound Entertainment and Image Comics for $2.99.

And unholy shit! Take a look at this beautiful alternate cover!

Not How It Was Before | Thoughts on Outcast #5

Outcast #5 (Image)– This issue was perhaps the series’ most focused to date and contains a fair amount of action and plot development (so far this series is even less about character than The Walking Dead or Invincible). Knowing that Kirkman is going for his usual 6-issue story arc break for collected trade editions of his comics just confirms suspicion that the story is being unveiled in a very decompressed method. Decompression, as you well know, is the bane of the comic book medium in these modern times. Since the four issues prior spent little time developing character, the events in this fifth issue would have been very welcome at, say, issue #3 or #4 at the latest. Yeah, yeah, I know the economics behind writing-for-the-trade, but that doesn’t mean each issue can’t in fact be worth its cover price. That said, this issue was perhaps the most entertaining of the series so far. Unsung heroes here are artist Paul Azaceta’s atmospheric and stylish images and Elizabeth Breitweiser’s colors. – Rating: 3.5

We all know Robert Kirkman loves doing his own riff on those Marvel teasers, and given the current movement at Marvel, I’d say this little Image EXPO teaser falls right in line. So, in other words, don’t be fooled into thinking that the Skybound/Image title will actually be getting relaunched. Now or ever. Kirkman’s an independent creator very proud of his longevity and the legacy numbering of his titles. This is just for fun, shits n’ giggles. I hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as I have.
