New single released today from what I consider to be indie rock’s most perfect band, Versus (from NYC originally). This single comes not long after the release of their new EP Ex Nihilo back on May 3rd. Curiously at the bottom of the cover for this one it says Ex Voto so there may be another EP forthcoming that this particular song is taken from. Of course Versus is one of those indie rock bands known for releasing lots of EPs. I gotta say this one is classic Versus as this band never disappoints. Check it out below.
Sleater-Kinney’s new single reminds me of Depeche Mode, musically (the production on the drums and bass). Which is also to say that I like it quite instantly. It’s quite a departure for these Pacific Northwest ladies, but it’s catchy nonetheless. Dig it.
It’s only been like forever since London Grammar released their debut album If You Wait back in 2013. I didn’t become aware of it myself until the late winter of 2015 (along with Daughter’s If You Leave). Well, the wait is only a few months longer as their sophomore album, Truth Is a Beautiful Thing drops this June. Below is a lyric video of the title track. Hannah Reed’s voice is as hypnotic and powerful as ever.

Out for a couple of weeks now, “Where’s the Revolution” is the first single from Depeche Mode’s forthcoming new album Spirit (out March 17th). Here’s the official video as well as a lyric video below.
In high anticipation of their next new studio album Emperor of Sand (out March 31st), my favorite modern metal band Mastodon offered up this pre-release single last week that has wormed and embedded itself deep within my subconscious. As the title alludes, the forthcoming concept album is thematically based on time and death, inspired by cancer, the silent killer that has touched the band the past year and a half in two different instances.
Key lyric in this one: Memories of loved ones are passing me by.
Featured on the forthcoming Catch the Throne Mixtape II, the musical companion to HBO’s Game of Thrones, to be released March 17th. Please note: this song will induce an eargasm upon any an all listeners. You have been warned. – BLR
